In February 2021, Texas experienced a historic freeze.  While still in shock at the snow, ice, and freezing temperatures, I heard myself tell someone I felt like I was living in a picture on a Christmas card. Immediately, I had to sit down and start writing a song around that idea. At one point during the week, my pen really WAS too cold to write, and I really DID go to bed with the cats to keep me warm, and with a jar of peanut butter and a loaf of bread nearby.

CHORUS: I am living in a picture on a Christmas card

I've got ice on the roof. I've got snow in the yard

The cactus in my xeriscape is frozen hard-wired'Cause I'm living in a picture on a Christmas card

VERSE: Kids are asking what's that white stuff out there in the street

They're begging to go play like this is some kinda treat

Right away they're complaining 'cause they've got frozen feet

Then they're racing through the door yelling, “Turn up the heat!”

 CHORUS

VERSE: The snow in the yard is so pretty and white

But the ink in my pen has gotten too cold to write

My faucets were dripping 'til they froze up tight

You think it's cold today? It will be colder tonight!

 CHORUS

VERSE: I've piled all the cats and all my quilts on my bed

I took the peanut butter with me and a big loaf of bread

I'm gonna have an easy summer 'cause my plants are all dead

Wanta swap my dune buggy for some kinda dog sled
