My Space page: www.myspace.com/thelighttravelers Light Travelers is a band of five independently successful songwriters who use a multitude of instruments to create music with a message of oneness. Their lyrics are poetic enough to be read without music. The instrumentation and musicianship are excellent enough to make for a compelling performance even without lyrics. The ideas expressed are powerful enough to be presented as a lecture. Light Travelers’ songs are so well written that they would be memorable even if performed with a single voice and one instrument. The friendships among the performers are so strong they enjoy their time together even when they aren’t playing music. Each of the five members could present an entire show alone. What makes the band special is that Light Travelers use their five voices and more than a dozen instruments to weave it all together—fine songwriting, excellent musicianship, a variety of instrumentation, joy in each other’s company, and vocal harmony. Every performance delivers a message of love and hope that makes the world a better place to be. They play on each other’s songs with a sensitivity that springs from a sincere respect for their fellow members’ work. Their songs are written on themes that resonate in a way that amplifies the meaning of each and heightens the impact of the whole. Their concerts will certainly entertain you, making you laugh as well as bringing a tear to your eye, but their music provides much more: Audiences leave feeling empowered and hopeful, with a new perspective and greater insight, better prepared to meet life’s challenges. The members of the group are seasoned professionals who have honed their musicianship, songwriting, and recording skills to their own exacting standards. All five have spent their lives pursuing music as the grand spiritual adventure it is. They have all released individual CDs. They have learned first-hand the power of music to promote personal transformation and healing: Kevin Lewis spent fifteen years as an essential member of the band for Celebration Circle, an arts-based Sunday morning worship gathering. He now plays with wife Dana Clark at the Unity Church of San Antonio, where she has been Music Director for over five years. Dana has written music published in songbooks for both the Unitarian Universalist and Unity Churches. Janet O’Connor is Music Director at the Unity Church of Practical Christianity in New Braunfels, TX. Chris Pfeiffer served as Music Director at Spring Creek Methodist Church for seven years. Kit Holmes has played Unity Churches and Religious Science Churches in Michigan, Texas, and Nevada, and is studying to be a Religious Science Practitioner. Each is personally invested in the uplifting message of the music they play. Each considers it a privilege to combine efforts in this synergistic collaboration that creates a whole so much more than the sum of its parts. No wonder these five special musicians, each traveling a spiritual path toward the Light, have decided to journey together as “Light Travelers.” The band Light Travelers specializes in presenting concerts of their original compositions for community events, churches, house concerts, retreats and conferences. They can tailor their repertoire to support the theme of your event or service. Kit Holmes -- Vocals, keyboard, guitar, bass, percussion. Kit Holmes is a one-woman wonder (writer/performer/multi-instrumentalist/producer and engineer) with a passion for "cool chords" and great grooves. Her music is lyrically intelligent, piano and vocal-driven "FunkyFolkJazzPop," with melodies that will get into your head from the get-go. Janet O’Connor -- Vocals, guitar, percussion As I neared New York City on a recent car trip from my home on Cape Cod, the traffic thickened, tangled, and snarled as it always will down there. Fortunately I had Janet’s ‘Someone Else Knows’ in the CD player, and I found myself feeling UNwound, calmed, and carried gently along in spite of all the commotion around me. There is power, clarity, humility, and grace in her work. David Roth
Chris Pfeiffer -- Vocals, guitar, bass Chris Pfeiffer is a New Thought singer/songwriter with the ability to sing what he knows to be true straight into the hearts of his audience. He uses poetic imagery to convey a universal message. His guitar playing can both tenderly support the most sensitive song and powerfully drive home a strong lyric. In concert, he weaves his stories and songs together so skillfully that the impact of both are enhanced.
Kevin Lewis -- Guitar, bass, vocals and Dana Clark -- Vocals, keyboard, mandolin, flutes, sax Dana and Kevin do more than entertain. They touch hearts, and invoke a quality of soulfulness from the audience. Peace and joy come through their music to offer an irresistible invitation for play and communion. Their music reminds us of our humanity and the divinity within us.” Rev. Phil Schulman, Community UU Church, San Antonio. “Listening to the Light Travelers is a sublime treat – beautiful voices, superior musicianship, and original, uplifting music!” Rev. Karen Tudor, Unity Church of Practical Christianity, New Braunfels, TX.
